A fantastic opportunity for a GP to join us – we are a closely knit, highly supportive, hardworking and resilient team facing up to the challenges of General Practice with innovation, versatility, enthusiasm and good humour. Our daily informal get-togethers for coffee (and cake!) are invaluable for team working, general catch-up and bouncing ideas around.

Our Practice:

 

·       In the heart of Fulwell in Sunderland, in purpose-built, one-level premises, extended over time to accommodate an increasing patient list and team of staff.

·       We currently have six GP’s, (four partners and two salaried), supported by an ANP and a large team of nursing and support staff.

·       Practice Pharmacist deals with the vast majority of medicines management workload and holds patient clinics twice weekly.

·       We are a GP Registrar training practice and receive excellent feedback from trainees. We also have Medical and Pharmacy students.

·       CQC inspected June 2016 ‘Good’ rating

·       Our 9,300 patient practice is long established and highly regarded.  We highly value continuity of patient care and staff health and wellbeing

·       A protected fully-funded ICB educational programme

·       IT - EMIS Web supported by,Accurx, E-Consult and GP Team Net.

·       Extremely high QOF achievement year after year. 

·       Weekly MDT meetings to discuss patients in care homes and housebound patients with complex needs.

·       Provide full range of services including minor surgery and have a Dermatology GPwSI on our team.

·       Daily catch-ups, monthly formal in house clinical/educational MDT meetings.

·       Dedicated 'on call' GP each day so no 'extras'

·       We are continually improving our processes to improve efficiency for both clinical and admin teams and have developed a robust protocol for document workflow which has significantly reduced GP workload.

·       Member of Sunderland GP Alliance federation who manage the Extended Access scheme so no out of hours commitment for individual practices.

·       Member of Sunderland North PCN

·       Recovery at Home team provide support in assessing and managing patients at home who are housebound or too unwell to attend the surgery therefore very low numbers of home visits needed by GPs.

 

The Position:

 

  • 6 sessions per week (ideally, but negotiable)

  • No OOH commitment

  • Flexible working and mentorship

  • Contract based on BMA model

  • 6 weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays

  • NHS pension

  • Indemnity covered (including non-NHS work)

  • Training and development strongly encouraged

  • Option to take on other clinical or management roles within the ICB Sunderland GP Alliance, and/or teaching/training if interested.
